Students are encouraged to make friends and be friendly to others. However, we have a “hands-off”, policy which precludes overly outward displays of affection between students while in attendance at school or travelling to and from school.
It is a condition of enrolment or continued enrolment at Carmichael College that students adhere to the following boundaries in regard to computer use of social networking sites and electronic media:- Students must demonstrate respect to others and their school.
Students must not make any comment on social networking sites (whether the profile or user-generated content is identifiably theirs or belonging to someone else) or any other digital media including email that targets any Carmichael College student or staff person with perceived negative intent, or undermines the name and/or good work of the school.
Current social networking sites and digital media forms would include, but not be limited to:-
Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, email, Bebo, MSN, text messaging, all mobile content – all texting and mobile transmission of photos, as well as mobile platforms of social networking sites.
For security and Workplace Health and Safety reasons, all visitors to the school must first report to the Administration building. After permission is obtained a register detailing the name and reason for the visit must be signed. A visitor badge will be issued and returned to the Office before leaving the school.
We encourage our families to email teachers should they wish to meet with them.
We love parent help! We ask that parents allow our students a term to settle in and then contact your child’s teacher about ways you can help.
Carmichael College is committed to the provision of educationally valid excursions as part of the school curriculum. Excursions will be prepared, managed, supervised and monitored in a way that seeks to ensure the health, safety and security of the participating students and staff, as well as others who may be affected by the conduct of an excursion. More information about excursions and transport permission slips are provided via the School Stream app.
EDUCATION
Carmichael College offers Prep to Year 12 education.
Devotions happen every day and Chapel on a Friday (Parents welcome). Devotions take around 20 minutes.
Carmichael College has a responsible behaviour plan based on three rules;
- Be Safe
- Be responsible
- Be respectful
Prep – Year 4 – a maximum of 25
Years 5 – 9 – a maximum of 28
Where possible, we try and stay under these numbers.
Assessment is on-going and regular, with Parent/Teacher interviews planned at various stages of the year. Formal written reports will be issued at the end of each Semester and will provide a summary of the progress of the student. Informal reporting will occur throughout the year through comments and suggestions on assignments, projects or homework. Parents are encouraged to communicate with class teachers if there are concerns or problems.
ENROLMENT
For future intake years, applications are generally reviewed between mid-April to June in the year prior to entry.
For current year applications, families can expect contact within approximately three weeks during term time once a complete application has been received.
Carmichael College is not registered with CRICOS and therefore cannot enrol international students or students holding a tourist visa.
No. Submitting an application allows a child to be considered for enrolment; however, it does not guarantee a place. Offers are made subject to year-level availability and the outcome of the enrolment review process.
Carmichael College is an independent Christian school and therefore denominational practices such as Christening, Dedication and Baptism is not required for enrolment.

Carmichael Kids is co-located beside Carmichael College.

FINANCES
Please refer to our website and parent handbook for current school fees. If you are having trouble paying please speak to our Accounts manager at your earliest convenience. They will work with you to help you.
Supervision of students at school includes before school, recess and lunch breaks, and after school. However, parents are reminded that staff members are not rostered for duty until 8:00am each morning. Parents are discouraged from sending their children to school before this time. Parents are requested to ensure that their children have been collected or have left the school grounds by 3:20pm. This is a workplace health and safety requirement. Parents wishing their children to be at school outside the hours of teacher supervision provided may avail themselves of the fee-for-service arrangement of after- or before-school care provided by OSHC staff (Outside School Hours Care).
