PREPARING FOR LIFE BEYOND SCHOOL

Graduating as educated, independent, creative, and resilient problem solvers.

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Senior schooling is an exciting time for Carmichael students and an important step in preparing for their future. In the Senior School, students will work with increasing independence and responsibility. Initiative, resilience and decision-making will become essential skills during this phase. Bringing these attributes to maturity and combining them with spiritual development will prepare students for the future, whether that is in tertiary studies or in the workforce.

Year 10 provides a link between the Junior and the Senior school, helping students to succeed in Year 11 and 12.  Students undertake a Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan to help them to make important decisions about their future education, training and employment.  Through a varied and engaging curriculum we are committed to creating many pathways for our students to achieve success. In Year 11 and 12 students work towards obtaining a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) as they pursue either tertiary entrance, TAFE qualifications or workplace readiness skills. We aim to provide the opportunity for Senior School students to become young men and women equipped to lead and contribute to their community as future citizens, following the path they are passionate about.

“Senior School Tour”

Preparation for life beyond school is a key focus in the Senior Years.

This preparation incorporates two aspects:

  • The pastoral pathway encouraging resilience, independence and social awareness.

  • The individual academic pathway promoting excellence in education.

Our aim is for our students to leave Carmichael College feeling confident to face the future with hope and optimism. To this end, we challenge and support every individual student and develop their skills and abilities, helping them to achieve their maximum potential.

“Our children are not only encouraged to grow in their education but also in their character, which is just as important for their post-school context.”

We truly love our Carmichael College Community. Moving our children across to the school has been one of the best decisions we have made as a family. The staff are incredible, and the school’s culture is one of the most encouraging and supportive environments we have experienced.
