GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY

Building on foundations and grasping exciting new opportunities.

A welcome from Angela Latter

ACTING HEAD OF UPPER PRIMARY

Welcome to Upper Primary at Carmichael College.

These are some of the most important years in a child’s life, and we don’t take that lightly. Grades 4 to 6 is where curiosity deepens, friendships are forged, and students begin to discover who they really are. We’re here to walk alongside them every step of the way.

Academic excellence matters to us, but so does the person behind the work. We want every student leaving Upper Primary to be confident and ready for whatever comes next, with a genuine love of learning and the resilience to handle life’s challenges with grace.

Our students are encouraged to lead, not just in the classroom, but across everything we do. Whether that’s representing their peers on student council, caring for the environment through Eco-Marines, competing on the sports field, performing in the arts, or pushing boundaries in robotics, there’s something here for every child to explore, enjoy, and grow through.

We hold our values close. Justice, compassion, and humility aren’t just words on a wall here. They shape how we teach, how we treat each other, and how we encourage our students to move through the world.

This is a community where we aim for children feel seen, supported, and genuinely celebrated.

CURRICULUM

Our Primary Curriculum meets all the requirements of the Australian Curriculum. While all subject areas have been written to be consistent with the word of God, Christian Studies particularly teaches godly values and attitudes consistent with those espoused by the National Safe Schools Framework. All students are expected to take part in all aspects of the program provided.

Our Years 3-5 Curriculum is designed to provide students with opportunities to build on a solid foundation of Numeracy and Literacy whilst giving students various opportunities to experience a range of learning disciplines.

“This year I have had the opportunity to be on the student council. We have worked hard to help our school and all the students.”

I have been here since Prep and I love my school. The students and the teachers are so caring and welcoming. This year on the student council we raised money for different causes. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve learned so much. I enjoyed getting to know the other leaders.
