Yes. All volunteers serve under the guidance and supervision of Carmichael College staff. Staff members remain responsible for student care, learning, supervision, and all decisions relating to student wellbeing.
Volunteers play an important supporting role by assisting staff and contributing to a positive learning environment while following the direction and guidance provided.

Volunteers are asked to dress in a neat, appropriate, and practical manner that is suitable for the activities they are assisting with and reflects the values of Carmichael College.
For safety reasons, volunteers must wear flat, enclosed footwear with good grip. Clothing should allow you to move comfortably and safely, particularly when assisting with activities, events, or student programs.
As a volunteer, you are a valued member of our College community, and your presentation, attitude, and actions help set a positive example for our students.

Yes. Prior to each event, excursion, or activity, the supervising staff member will provide volunteers with the necessary information, guidance, and expectations, including details about safety procedures, supervision responsibilities, and any specific requirements for the activity.

Yes. As a volunteer at Carmichael College, you may become aware of personal information relating to students, families, or staff. This information must always be treated with respect and kept confidential.
Maintaining confidentiality is an important part of creating a safe, respectful, and trusting environment for our entire College community.

No. Managing student behaviour and discipline is the responsibility of Carmichael College staff. Volunteers should not take disciplinary action or address behaviour concerns independently.
If a concern arises, please seek assistance from a teacher or staff member who can respond appropriately and support the student.
Can I use my mobile phone while volunteering?2026-07-21T15:27:18+10:00
Volunteers are asked to keep mobile phones on silent while serving at Carmichael College.
If you need to use your phone for an urgent matter, please step away from students and use it discreetly.
Can I take photos or videos while volunteering?2026-07-21T15:25:43+10:00
No. To protect the privacy, dignity, and safety of our students and community members, volunteers must not take photographs, videos, or recordings while volunteering at Carmichael College unless they have been specifically authorised by the College.
Volunteers must also not share any College-related images, videos, or information on social media or other platforms. Any approved photography or media will be managed by the College in accordance with our child safety and privacy procedures.
